Design Samples for Sheena Douglass shows on Create and Craft.

Hi All

I thought I would post some of the samples I have made for Sheena's shows, I hope you like them and maybe they give you some inspiration

When a stamp gives inspiration for other things?

Good evening all

I love stamping and always find it fascinating how one stamp is used so differently by each individual.  I love Sheena Douglass's products and demonstrations and the latest paint fusion stamps have given me so many ideas.  One stamp in particular has really caught my imagination and I  wanted to use the image as a template to make a brooch.

This is the finished card I made with the stamp.

And this is the finished brooch, my other crafty love is wirework and this is made from Antique bronze 1mm and 0.4mm wire with a pewter cultured fresh water pearl in the centre.

I love wearing this on my spotted raincoat and am so chuffed with the response from
people when they see it. I Need to make some wirework christmas ornaments next.

I hope you enjoy my blog, it is great to keep a record of some of the things I make

thanks for reading xxx

Good Morning from sunny Scotland

Yes indeed the sun is shining and in Perthshire that is a novelty after Perth has had 225% of it's normal rainfall for July and August didn't start much better, but this is the second day of sunshine, that makes me happy and means I can tackle the weeds in the garden.

I was asked on Sheena's Inkettes how I made my Christmas card hanger that was a sample for Sheena's Christmas show in July.

I made it using Sheena's Faux leather technique which you can access at  https://www.youtube.com/user/sheenad29 and click on videos.
Here are some pictures, which will hopefully help with my tutorial.

I used 2 sheets of A4 kraft card and fleatherd them and put them through the leaf vein 8x8 embossing folder and used brushed corduroy ink pad over the top.

One piece of the fleather was cut lengthwise down the middle and then overlapped on the short ends and glued with tacky glue and stitched across with my sewing machine.
For Part 2 of the fleather I used some plain curtain lining and glued it onto the back of the long strip (the second part of how to attach the fabric is also on Sheena's You Tube pages) I used a blanket stitch on my machine to sew all around the edge to finish it off and green organza ribbon down each side stitched at intervals so little gold or silver pegs can be added for the cards.
I stamped the pine cone and branches using Dyna Paints (mixed colours to get a nice brown) onto the lining which finishes off the back nicely.

The second piece of fleatherd kraft card I used with the pine cone and pine branch die cuts and added ink and gilding wax to them for dimension.  Again tacky glue to attach to the front and some red and green fine glitter on the cones.  I added some gold gilding wax around the edge on the front.  The twine bow stamp cut out and added to the top and a large red ribbon on the bottom and it's finished

Hark the Herald Angels sing!!

Yeah Christmas in July.

The Fabulous Sheena Douglass is back on our screens on Monday 20 July on Create and Craft with a 4 day deal of amazing dies and stamps.  The design team have been creating a brilliant creations and here is one of my samples for the show.

Using the fab Dyna paints which I looooooove very much and fabric, stamped and stitched and die cut fairy lights and poinsettia added for decoration with bells on the toe.  The shape of the stocking compliments the fairy and elf dies and stamps on the show.

I hope you are as excited as I am to see the creations from our Sheena.

See you next time and thank you for visiting xx

Christmas is coming la de dah de dah

Good Evening all

Christmas in June, mad I know but with such great products I cannot help but get in the festive mood.

Thought I would show the cards I made for Sheena's Christmas show on Create and Craft,  I had great fun making them and it has now got me in the mood to make my own Christmas cards.

This one is made using copper sheeting embossed and painted with the Dyna paints and glitter added to the tree tops and gilding wax to the stars.

This one is the embossing folder on card cut out and layered in different colours on a little canvas and glitter and Dyna Paints on the background.
I love this stamped and embossed on black card and a circle of silver mirri card stamped and embossed to give it a frame and a stand attached to the back of it.
A gift bag made from 12 x 12 card and a panel of white paper painted with the gold Aqua Tints and then stamped and embossed.

I hope you have great fun using these products, they are so versatile, see you next time,  thank you for visiting x

Happy Monday

Good Morning All

Thought I would post a couple of cards I made at the end of May - a birthday and a thank you card using Sheena Douglass products.

The background was made using distress inks mixed with water and droplets dropped onto the card and dried in between adding new colours. I think I used rusty hinge, peacock and antique linen.

I love the new Dyna paints - they are FAB!  a little on my craft sheet and dipped a bottle top rim and stamped on the background.
The floral stamps are Sheena's and soooooo versatile, I have stamped them on copy paper painted black on both sides and embossed, then used the gilding waxes to really make them sing.  the sentiment is stamped onto the same background as the card and embossed with a copper powder.
the ribbon, jewels and backing paper are from my stash.

This card is using the same background put through the leaf vein embossing folder and the butterfly stamped and coloured twice, part of the second one cut out and layered on top.  I have used gilding wax on the leaf veins as well

I love the colours and texture of these two cards and hope you like them too.

Thank you for visiting my blog and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Stamping or no stamping?

Good Evening all

Thought I would post a card I made today seeing as the weather in Perthshire was horrible this morning and although it is still windy the sun is now shining and it is a lovely evening.

I decided to make a card to fit in with Hels Sheridan Sunday Stamper challenge, which this week is no stamping.  I know cutting it to the wire as the cut off is 2100 this evening.   Where does a week go!!!!!

I wanted to play with backgrounds and started off with 120gsm copy paper and 3 distress inks, persimmon, dusty concorde and pickled raspberry which I sprayed with water and dried with a heat gun.

Not happy, bored with it already and it looks like a blotchy mess - often does to start with, so I decided it needed a bit of bling.  Out came my new dyna paints violet blue, blue black and orange yellow and I went over the distress inks with a watered down mix of the paints and then sprayed it with water and dried it.

Just a small amount of each and sprayed with a water mister, 6 or 7 sprays and each one mixed with the water and them put it through Sheena Douglass's taste of india mandala embossing folder and used empire gold gilding wax over the raised areas. The picture really does not show the bling.

I used another background I had made using H20's and dyna paints and embossed with sheena's floral india 5x7 folder and used the renaissance gold gilding wax to highlight the raised areas.  I then used a rectangular die to cut it out. and the gilding wax around the outside edge

This was cut out and mounted onto purple card and the background was mounted onto purple and black card.  I layered the background onto my A5 folded card and added some ribbon trim
to the side and mounted the 5x7 panel on top.

I added a Tim Holtz word band at the bottom and my card is finished with no stamping.

Happy Stamping (or not) until next time x

Good evening all

Where has time gone - well over a year and no excuses just gone!! I will promise to try and post regularly.

Here goes

We had the obligatory tin of roses chocolates a couple of years ago (other brands are available) and I kept it because I thought I can alter that - 2 years later I decided to play.
I covered it in copy paper and it sat on the side for weeks. I decided to paint it with gesso and some blue added to it, then used stencils in stripes and spots and stamped with an arrow stamp. I then used a leaf stencil and paste

I added Wendy Vecchi's art parts to the top - again stencilled and painted and stamped with a swirl stamp. I had great fun altering this.

I have entered this into Hels Sheridan Sunday Stamper - Free Theme  (Post went to pot so date shows as later)
